Flat Back Automotive is not only quality and punctual, but they will communicate and work with you on what you need. They were under the price I thought the bill was going to be and were very quick (valve cover gasket, broken bolt removal, and seal cap). The owner is amazing and great person all around - I will definitely be coming back for future car issues. I also got a clutch+rear main seal job done and no surprises; great customer service, quality, and price. Andrew communicates clearly on everything and makes it easy to discuss.

Flat Black Automotive is the best mechanical service if found in the past 10 years. They are honest, trustworthy professionals who do what is needed and don't overcharge or add unnecessary work. I have been a client for the past 7+years and have recommended their service to family and friends. I have trust and peace of mind in their work and warranty. Though I don't live in Bellingham, they are worth the 35 minute drive and my loyalty.

Car was leaking oil so I brought it in to Flat Black for assessment, as well as for a 100,000 mile service. Andrew called me up within only a few hours of dropping it off, with a thorough estimation of the work required to fix the leaks (and damage caused by the leaks), and the cost. They also found that my car was leaking transmission fluid and would require a new radiator. 12 year old vehicles, what can I say? Andrew was 100% professional, honest, gave me the full rundown of what needed to be done and more importantly WHY, and scheduled the work to maximize labor efficiency. The new radiator had to be ordered and arrived within a day, and I had my car back in less than a day and a half. Just took her out of town for a long drive and she is working perfectly. These guys put pride in their work and it shows. Their quick, cheerful, and thorough communication was also very much appreciated. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Excellent experience all the way. I will be going to them for all of my future car repairs.

Diagnosed coolant leaks that no other mechanic could. Repaired problems appropriately. Encountered unforseen broken hardware in the process. They had replacement hardware expedited and replaced within 24 hours. They thoroughly explained all issues, honored their quoted price and were super easy and enjoyable to work with. Fun to talk too. Great personalities. No flashy office or unnecessary overhead. Just a couple of knowledgeable guys who clearly love working on cars. Highly recommended.
