Very Disappointing Experience – Unsafe Work on My Jeep Patriot I’ve had other work done at Flat Black in the past and trusted them completely. Their service seemed reliable, which is why I didn’t hesitate to bring my Jeep Patriot in for a steering rack replacement when they told me in a routine check up that it was time to replace it. However, after they had trouble sourcing the part, I began to feel like they were rushing through the job even when I told them it was okay to have my car for a couple more days. After getting my Jeep back from Flat Black I noticed slowly but surely it wasn't driving the same. It was making new noises and the wheel felt "loose." This all prompted me to take it to another shop to have it looked at because I had a feeling Flat Black hadn't done the work correctly and I wanted a second opinion. When I took my vehicle to another shop for a routine check, I was shocked and horrified to learn that the steering rack had been installed incorrectly with loose bolts. The work was dangerously unsafe, and I could have easily been involved in a serious accident with my son in the car! It’s extremely disappointing to see a shop I trusted do such careless work. They clearly didn’t give the necessary attention to detail, and it cost me both time and peace of mind. I expected better, especially after previous experiences. Mike knows I have serious anxiety about taking my car to any shop. I really trusted them. I would advise anyone to be cautious about bringing their vehicles here, as their quality and safety standards are now seriously in question. I still have not gotten a call from the owner Andrew over this whole situation when he was the one who worked on my car. It has been over 2 weeks. You would think Andrew would reach out with at least an apology and an explanation. I have been in contact with Mike at the front desk because I have called. No one from Flat Black has called me directly! Mike at Flat Black said they will "make it right" and pay the other shop that fixed my Jeep. That's great but I am hoping to get an apology at the very least!
